The popular television show, A Different World, dealt with some heavy issues that were affecting Black Americans during the time the show was on air.  It’s ironic that the issues that they were battling are still very prevalent in the Black community today.

In this brief clip, Sister Souljah, a popular hip hop artists and author, tells Whitley why Blacks should focus on building their communities and not integrating with others.

Let’s hear from you all.

  • Is it wrong to integrate the races or is it better to just stay to our selves?
  • Do we agree with the white supremacist groups and keep all races separated?
  • Do we accomplish more, gain a better understanding, and build better relationships when the races are mixed?

Suppose you want your family to stay one race (no matter what your race is) and your children fall in love with someone from a different race. Is it about you and your agenda, reasons, or feelings? Our is it about their feelings and about their love? Suppose your feelings are very strong about some other race of people, what do you do or say? How do you act? How do you deal with your children’s choices?

Don’t think it will happen to you? Think again!

Maxwell’s family! Things change, love knows no boundaries!

Daughter-in-law straight out of the deep south where you know what happened over many years. Think I did not have feelings? The baby mama – she’s cool but family is do or die on the other side of friendly. Think I did not have feelings? Other baby mama full of drama and hatred, causing all kinds of problems for nothing. Think I don’t have feelings? BUT, these are who my children has fallen in love with and had children with. Is it far to the children for me the hold feelings (about the things that have happened and the things that are currently going on today) against them?

In my case I hold no feeling against the babies. I give them all my love! Their parents I try to educate them as much as they will listen. Their parents! I don’t speak to unless I have to because they are stuck in their ways. “Grand-parents” OMG y’all pray for me! LOL I think things are as good as they are because my wife and I are smart in how we deal with each of person. We understand who they are and how we need to approach each individual. And, they all know we don’t take no junk and we will not be intimidated. I have to say they were all surprised when they met us because we are educated, successful and we mean what we say.

“Young people get your education because it will help you see into the heart of others and you can navigate without fear”.

I give you my family as an example because it is the Achilles heel of our struggle. Freedom’s cost may lie in one of or a combination of Acceptation, Integration  or Separatism.

What say you?

About Mastering You

"Mastering You" is about helping African American's to see their value in this world. I post only positive stories and information about what African American's have contributed to society in the past and currently. I don't post anything about Sports, Entertainment, Religion, or Politics. I also don't post anything that has a negative spin. While I am aware that there are negative things happening all over the world and that most people focus on the above four topics when it comes to African American's that is not my goal. If all you heard was negativity about any race that's all you will come to expect from them and everything else will be out of the norm. My goal is to show everyone that the negativity is often out of the norm, or at best they are equal to the positive. Just like every other race.
