The Democratic Party gave almost no money to black-owned businesses

You all know that I don’t do politics but I found this article that I thought you all would find interesting. In truth, I would rather NOT have any Black Owned Business take any government money but that’s another topic altogether.

Democratic Party loves to tout its diversity, but a new study found that the party doesn’t put its money where its donna brazilemouth is. According to POLITICO, less than 2 percent of the party’s payments went to minority firms.

A report funded by Democratic donor Steve Phillips found that the Democratic Party has not reached out to minority consultants to bid on the millions of dollars available to pay political consulting firms.

“The fact that this is occurring under the first black president’s watch should be a wake-up call because it’s embarrassing,” said Democratic strategist and pundit Donna Brazile. “The people exist, the organizations exist, and the resources are there. This is a failure by those that are running and managing the party.”

The report analyzes data derived from the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee during the 2010 and 2012 election cycles.

In response to the report, the DNC acknowledged the failing and said it is already taking steps to include more minority firms.

“When you look at the two parties, it is clear which party has a demonstrated commitment to diversity and policies that will help all communities,” DNC Communications Director Mo Elleithee said, according to POLITICO. “Having said that, we can always do better. And I’m happy there are people out there holding our feet to the fire.”

Out of a pool of $514 million dollars, only $8.7 million went to “any ownership share African-American, Latino, Asian American or Pacific Islander, or Native American individuals.”
