#5) Transcription Services
Transcription services is the process of typing up notes made from recorded records. You listen, you type. Want to work from midnight until 4 am? You can. There are five major markets: academic, business, medical, legal, and professional. The projects are varied: book reports, doctoral dissertations, grant proposals, course outlines; menus for restaurants, consultants’ reports, mailing list, brochures, correspondences, etc.
Medical transcription is a business all by itself, so I’ll talk about it more in the next posting. If you have legal experience, you could be a legal transcription. You can find work on your own or go through a service. You could offer your own business services and also do secretarial and office support services.
